Introduction to Organizational Policies and Procedures

Organizational policies and procedures are made to facilitate a proper functioning of the system through which the organization would run its business activities. These are guidelines binding the vision of the organization with its business goals and help to manage the day to day activities in a structured and efficient manner, whereas procedures are particular way of acting for executing those policies effectively (Power, 2018). So the policy is the cause while the procedure is the outcome of such a cause. It has to be remembered that policies and procedures are all internal matters of any organization while legislations are specific set of rules and regulations set by the government and every organization working in that country has to abide by the legislations of that nation. These legislations can be pertained to labor laws, employment law or environmental laws (Drescher, & Garbers,2016). Policies and Team work

In today’s context of competitive work environment teamwork is seen as the best way to accomplish the business objectives in the most effective manner. Teamwork always expedites the regular functions of the organizations than managing them individually. It is also very important in building mutual harmony and sense of camaraderie among the various employees of the organization working together to achieve a common goal set by the organization (Tullo, 2019). Since team work is all about managing the human elements of a business hence, the policies and procedures of any organization are very important to bind the human elements to the organizational objectives in the most constructive manner. Such policies are effective medium of communicating the organizational values and expectations to the employees and also to explain to the employees about what type of output the organization expects out of the employees (Haas, & Mortensen, 2016).

So policies and procedures should be designed in such a manner that they should encourage the team members to put in their best efforts towards achieving the organizational goals by cooperating and coordinating among themselves. Such policies should help to identify, nurture and develop the different types of qualities possessed by each members of a team and then to direct such individual talents towards the overall benefit of the team (Dinh, & Salas 2017).The business policies are designed in such a manner so as to align the different qualities of the team members in a common thread of organizational activities which is termed as team work. The different qualities are inputs which work collectively towards achieving a common output. So, an effective and fruitful team work will always depend on very conducive organizational policies and procedures.

Role of Legislation in Team Work

Similarly while designing and implementing such policies and procedures, the organization should also be extremely careful about following the legislations of the nation and to ensure that none of their policies and procedures leads to any violation of the legislations. The policies and procedures are to be governed and guided by the various legislations covering various aspects of business like labor, employment or environment (Adil, & Ab Hamid 2020). So, any decisions taken about team work activities must be made keeping in mind these 3 factors- policies and procedures of the organization and legislations of the economy. Policies and procedures are internal practices which might vary from one organization to another but legislations are sacrosanct, like irrespective of internal policies and procedures organizations has to abide by the environmental legislations to minimize carbon emission and contribute to a greener environment. It shows that any decision taken about teamwork cannot take a deviation of these factors and has to obey them compulsorily (O'Neill, & McLarnon, 2018)

Conclusion on Organizational Policies and Procedures

So we can sum up by saying that team work is the outcome of the policies and procedures that are designed internally by an organization whereas such policies and procedures should be bound by the economic legislations of the nation.
